Peter Alig's obituary from the Okarche Times reads:

Peter Alig died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. W. Meistrell in this city, Friday night, August 9, at the age of 75 years. He had been in poor health for some time and recently suffered several strokes of paralysis. The funeral was held Monday (Aug. 11), and interment made in the Catholic cemetery.

Mr. Alig was born in Bavaria Germany, and when 8 years old came to America with his parents and settled in Woodford county, Illinois. He was married to Marian (sic) Kleiss in 1863, and moved with his family to Pettis county, Missouri. From there he moved to Okarche in 1894, where his wife died in 1906, since which time he has made his home with his children. He leaves to mourn his loss, two sons and seven daughters, four brothers and three sisters. Two sons and three daughters live here, one daughter lives at Vinita, Oklahoma, one at Paxico, Kan., one at Villagrove Ill., and one at Groom, Texas. All his children were at the funeral.

Mrs. Joe Rund, of Villagrove Ill., Mr. and Mrs. N. G. Schumaker of Paxico, Kan., and Mrs. John Weller of Groom, Tex., came the first of the week to attend the funeral of their father Peter Alig. Mr. and Mrs. Schumaker returned to their home, Wednesday night, and Mrs. Weller leaves for her home in Texas, today. Mrs. Rund expects to leave tomorrow for her home in Illinois.
