Louis Ubben, Retired Coal Mine President, Dies; Rites Thursday
Funeral services for Louis Ubben, 78, of 1112 Park Avenue, president of the Ubben Coal Co. until his retirement in 1945, willbe held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Calvary Baptist Church. Dr. Hubert Entwisle, pastor of the church, of which Mr. Ubben was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery. Friends may call at Noel-Henderson Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. today. The body will lie in state in the church from 11 a.m. Thursday until time of services. Mr. Ubben died at 4:35 p.m. Tluesday in Pekin hospital, where he had been a patient since Saturday morning. He had been in failing health for some time.
Born at Pekin May 10, 1889, he was a son of Ubbo Albert and Elizabeth Ubben Ubben. His marriage to Minnie Veerman occured here Aug. 14, 1916. She died Aug. 1, 1961. Mr. Ubben was a member of the Pekin Elks Club.
Surviving are (unable to read two lines) daughter Mrs. Eugene (Elizabeth)
Foster of Pekin; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
wife, four sisters and three brothers.
