JOHANNES "JOHN" BOTT [BATT] (1879-1946)
Rites Saturday for Bott (Batt), 67, Worland Farmer---- Funeral services for John Batt, 67, who farmed near Worland for nearly 30 years, will be held at 2.p.m. Saturday in the Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dr. Julius Berkenkemp will officiate.
Pall bearers will be George Busch Jr., Harold Busch, Harry Busch, Raymond Busch, Henry Michel, Jr., and Ed Michel. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Batt died at 9:30 a.m. yesterday of pneumonia at his home two miles northeast of Worland. During the past few years Batt suffered attacks of pneumonia. His last illness began on Aug 11, a week after he passed his 67th birthday. Batt was born on Aug 3, 1879, at Dittel (Dietel), Russia, where he was raised on the farm of his parents. He married Elizabeth Michel there in 1900 and with his wife and four children immigrated to America 12 Years later. He lived at Lincoln, Neb., and farmed near Laurel, Mont. before coming to Worland, where he farmed until his death. His first wife , by whom he had 13 children , seven of whom are living, died on Nov. 7, 1929 and on Feb 6, 1931, he married Mrs. Katharina Elizabeth (Wolf) Brill, herself the mother of six children. He was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
Beside his widow, he leaves a son, George, of Worland; six daughters, Mrs. George Busch Sr [Elizabeth]., Mrs. David Busch [Katherine], Mrs. Fred Dellas [Maria], and Mrs. George Schneider [Frieda], all of Worland, Mrs. Paul Schneider [Lydia] of Powell, and Mrs. James McPike [Amelia] of Montecello, MO; 18 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Jacob Gradwohl of Riverton; three step-sons; George Brill of Ogallala, Neb., Henry Brill of Bayard, Neb., and Conrad Brill of Worland; and three stepdaughters, Miss Catherine Brill of Cheyenne, Mrs. Eva Hergehneder and Mrs. Anna Bradford, both of Worland.
