The English translation of her obituary published in the Tell City Anzeiger on 9 August 1902 reads: "Mrs. Katharina Ploch died the previous Thursday in German Ridge at an high age. She was born in Germany, emigrated to America in the 40s and had lived about 60 years in this county. Her marriage was blessed with 15 children, of which 10 are still alive. Two of her sons took part in the War of the Revolution [Civil War]. She was a respected German woman and a member of the German Methodist church there, from where her burial took place on Sunday. Pastor Brückner of Cannelton conducted the funeral service. Peace to her ashes." (Tell City Indiana German Newspaper Items, page 154)
