- John N. �??Nature Boy�?� Straub, 61, passed away at Backus Hospital on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 following a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Norwich on May 25, 1948; son of Frank and Violet (Waite) Straub. John loved nature and being outdoors. He was a product of the Woodstock Generation and would return to the site every year. He loved all aspects of music: singing, playing and listening to it, especially Led Zeppelin. He was a member of numerous organization. John is survived by his father, Frank Straub of Uncasville; his brothers Stephen and Paul both of Uncasville; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his mother Violet Straub. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Montville Funeral Home of Church & Allen, 53 Rte. 32 from 6-8pm. A 10am Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at St. John's Church, 22 Maple Ave, Uncasville; burial will immediately follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
