HELEN MUDRICH, age 92 of Valparaiso, formerly of Glen Park, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the VNA Horton Hospice Center in Valparaiso.
She was born August 13, 1916 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Onufer and Rose (Kauchak) Barancyk, attended Froebel High School in Gary, and had been a homemaker. Helen was a member of the Glen Park Assembly of God. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts, was very creative and artistic, enjoyed computers and played the organ and sang. On May 18, 1940 in Gary, IN, she married Daniel Mudrich, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1980. Helen is survived by her 4 children; Daniel (Kaz) Mudrich, Jr. of Tucson, AZ, Eileen (Don) Knipp of West Bloomfield, MI, Diane (Kurt) VanAtta of Rootstown,Ohio, and Tom Mudrich of Valparaiso. Also 7 grandchildren; Lane, Matthew, Michele, Jeff, Mark, Paul, and Randy, and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 6 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso with Pastor Eric Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 – 8 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso. Memorials in Helen's name may be made to the Valparaiso Nazarene Church or VNA Hospice of Porter County.
