Dorothy was married to Charles O. Morris for 70 years prior to his death on June 19, 2008.

She grew up in McKeesport, Pa. She was educated at the University of Pittsburgh Extension in McKeesport, Slippery Rock State Teachers' College, and the University of Pittsburgh. She was an elementary school teacher in McKeesport and in Rocky River, Ohio.

She is survived by her daughter; her son; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was active in the First Baptist Church, McKeesport; in Rocky River Methodist Church, Rocky River; Christ United Methodist Church, Upper St. Clair, Pa.; and in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Oakland, where she taught Sunday school for 22 years and was active in the United Methodist Women.

As missions chairperson, she encouraged the congregation to sponsor the Mung Dieu family, a "boat family" of 11 people from Vietnam. The Methodist Parish of Southern Garrett County and the Amish community supported this family for a year. She was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church, Mitchellville, for more than nine years.

In Rocky River, she was active in PTA, served on the board of the Rocky River Public Library, served on the board of the Eliza Jennings Home (a retirement home for women), was a member of the Cleveland Council for International Visitors, and worked with the American Field Service program, which hosted international high school students. Dorothy and Charles shared their home with many international visitors, both students and adults. For a year they opened their home to an AFS high school student from Denmark, Svend Lauritsen.

In Upper St. Clair, Pa., she volunteered at the public library, where she led children's story hours. She visited a shut-in person at the Baptist Retirement Home for eight years. She and Charles worked with the Pittsburgh Council for International Visitors.

In Oakland, she delivered Meals on Wheels, served as secretary on the board of the Ruth Enlow Public Library for 14 years, was a member of the Friends of Ruth Enlow Library, served on the board of Habitat for Humanity, and visited a shut-in person weekly for 10 years. She was a member of the Garrett County Chapter of D.A.R., the Civic Club of Oakland, and the Lohr Auxiliary of Garrett Memorial Hospital, where she performed many volunteer activities.

At the Collington Episcopal Life Care Community, she was a member of the Outreach Committee.
