He was the eldest son of the immigrant John Andrew and Mary Eve Weikert. George was a captain in the York County Mililtia in 1781. His unit guarded the 1,000 British prisoners at Camp Security in York, PA in October and November. George married (1) Margaret Spitler and they had 10 children: John, Elizabeth Epley, Catherine Frey, Mary Bishop, George Jr., Fannie Rahn, Peter, Jacob, Andrew and Henry. George married (2) Mrs. Anna Mariah Colestock on April 18, 1812. They had 4 children: Margaret Duttera, Sarah Sponseller, Samuel and William. George purchased his father's farm in Mt. Pleasant Township, between White Hall and Square Corner in 1792. In 1800 he purchased an additional 150 acres of land. Beginning in 1807 he paid taxes on a still and some years he had two stills.
