My 4th Great Grandmother Fannie Weikert, was born in Adams County, Pennsylvania, April 12, 1793, in the town of Mount Pleasant. She was born just after the American Revolution, and would live to see the Civil War fought in her own backyard. She married Philip Rahn of Adams County and had nine children; Catherine, Mariah, Fannie Elizabeth, Levi, William, Barnabas, Keziah, Rachael, and Samuel. Fannie was 42 years old when her husband Philip died in 1835, leaving her with six children under the age of 16. From what the records we find Samuel and Rachael both having guardian Conrade Walter, an Uncle. Keziah and Barnabas having the guardian of Peter Mickley of Adams County, William having guardian John Walter, and Levi Jacob Raffensberger. Fannie married again, five years later, to Michael Saltzgiver, on October 14, 1840 in Adams County, PA. She was 47 years old at the time. This was recorded in the Adams Co., Pa newspaper the "Compiler". In this announcement she was referred to as Mrs. Fanna Rahn. In 1850 Census for Adams County, Fannie (age 57) , Michael (age 64), along with her daughter Racheal, 22 years old, John Saltzgiver age 21, and Anna Forney aged 9 were listed living in one house. At her death (Jan. 6, 1879) she was referred to as Mrs. Fannie Saltzgiver, widow of Michael. This was in Straban twp., Adams Co., PA. The story appeared in the January 16, 1879 "Sentinel" newspaper. Fannie was buried along side her first husband in the Saltzgiver grave plot at the Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg, Adams Co., PA. source: Gettysburg Archives
