The funeral for Rose M. Thomas, 87, of Devils Lake, formerly of Knox, was held Mon. at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Knox. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died April 12, 1996 at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake.
Fr. Matt Lanz officiated. Joan Marie Sheet was organist & Bob Bosch was soloist. Pallbearers were Delton & Dale Tofte & Leonard, Martin, Delwyn & Laurn Larson. The Nelson funeral Home of Leeds was in charge of arrangements.
Rose M. Thomas was born Oct. 15, 1908 in Orrin to Michael & Barbara Froelich Meier. She attended rural schools & Married George Thomas Aug. 21, 1931 in Rugby. They lived at Knox & later at Brinsmade & Leeds. They moved to Devils Lake in 1992, where she lived at the Good Samaritan Center.
She was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church & altar society in Knox & was a current member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church & its altar society in Leeds.
Survivors include her husband, George of Devils Lake; 3 daughters, Catherine (Mrs. Maynard) Stensby of Devils Lake, Betty (Mrs. Lawrence) Larson of Minot & Eleanore Tofte of Devils Lake; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo Meier of Great Falls, Mont.; & a sister, Ann Olson of Fargo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers; 4 sisters; & a son-in-law, Ray Tofte.
