Born at Windsor January 26, 1864, to Christopher and Margaret Schambs Sunkel, he was a lifelong resident of Richland county.
In October, 1907, he married Winnie Owens, who survives him, as do five daughters, Mrs. Ray Kahl of Mansfield Route 2, Mrs. Forest Scott of Ashland, Mrs. Lee Ohl of Ashland Route 4, Mrs. Zane Wigton of Lakeville and Mrs. Russell Emerson of Mansfield: 17 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, John and Andrew of Mansfield; and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Hursh of Mansfield and Mrs. Margaret Stevens of San Diego, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Elizabeth Croninger, who died in 1898 [1899], one daughter, one brother and three sisters.
The body is at the late home where friends may call and where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Floyd Eckert of the Methodist church at Pavonia will officiate and burial will be made in Windsor. The Gilbert Funeral Home has made arrangements.
