Barbara A. Hinrichs, age 61, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 27, 2009, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, after a long battle with cancer.
Barbara Ann Meyer was born March 29, 1948, to Greg and Blanche (nee Lembcke) Meyer at the family farmhouse in West Concord. She graduated from high school in 1966. She married Roger Hinrichs on Oct. 22, 1966, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Zumbrota. Barbara enjoyed gardening, going to the cabin that she and Roger built, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and going to the casino. She was known for her love for others, especially in their times of need.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Roger; son, Steven (Paulette) Hinrichs of Zumbrota; daughter, Melissa (Nick) Stolp of Elk River; four grandchildren, Ryan, Georgia, Gabi and Griffin Hinrichs; three brothers, Jerry Meyer of West Concord, Darrel Meyer and Mike (Brenda) Meyer, all of Zumbrota; sister, Lyla (Norb) Ira of Fort Atkinson, Iowa; brother-in-law, Den Grant of Chaska; sister-in-law, Pat Meyer of Goodhue; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sandra Grant; brother, Lyle Meyer; and sister-in-law, Irma Meyer.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Zumbrota. Father Timothy Dolan will be officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday June 30, at Mahn Family Funeral Home in Zumbrota, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery in West Concord.
The family suggests memorials to be directed to the American Cancer Society.
