Harold "Shorty" Schwindt, 90, of Fort Collins passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2009.

Harold was born to Henry and Katherine (Troudt) Schwindt on September 27, 1918 in Fort Collins, CO. He grew up with 16 brothers and sisters. After leaving school, he worked as an apprentice boilmaker for Union Pacific where he worked for 11 years. He then went on to become a carpenter for Shriner Remodeling for 25 years retiring in 1980.

On May 3, 1940, he married Olinda "Jean" Jekel in Kimball, NE.

Harold liked fishing, hunting, bowling and telling stories and jokes.

Harold is survived by his wife Olinda of 68 years; son, Larry (Connie) Schwindt of Fort Collins, daughter, Loretta (Dennis) Chadderdon of Sun Lakes, AZ; sister Alice (Henry) Schnorr of Loveland, CO; brother Edward (Gladys) Schwindt of Windsor, CO; 3 grandchildren Rodney James Schwindt of Fort Collins, Kimberly Jayne Byrd of Casper, WY and David Jon Chadderdon of Casper, WY and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Bible Church in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526.

Visitation will be held 2 to 6 pm Wednesday, March 4 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Memorial Service 2 pm, Thursday, March 5 at Resthaven Chapel with burial to follow.
