Minnesota Historical Society, SAM 40, Reel 2, Vol A, p 373 - Final Certificate of Naturalization issued 1st day of November, 1897 from the District Court of the county of Waseca in the 5th Judicial District, State of Minnesota. William renounced all allegiance to the Emperor of Germany.

DEATH CLAMES LIVES OF THREE BELOVED PEOPLE
Olaf Johnson, Mrs. Heywood, Wm. Hagemeister Answer Call
Death claimed the life of another pioneer Bowman county resident Friday, November 14, when William Hagemeister died at age of 74 years.
He became ill June 23 and was taken to Miles City where he entered a hospital where he was a patient until October 25. His illness was caused from a stroke.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 18 from the Scranton Lutheran church with Rev. F, A. J. Meyer officiating. A short service was conducted at home.
Pall bearers were H. A. Soehren , Fred Kleeman, Charlie Kelner, Harry Kline, Oscar Pierce and George Herman.
William was born September 18, 1867 at Burrou, Germany. When seven years old he came to America with his parents. They made their home in Blue Earth City, Minn., where William attended school.
On June 14, he was united in marriage with Miss Martha Newsom at Blue Earth. In 1906 the family came to Stillwater township where he resided until his death. His wife died May 30 at the age of 74. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hagemeister passed away at the age of 74 years, one month and 26 days.
His passing is mourned by six children, Leonora Porten, Scranton; Cora Downey, Alzada, Montana; Edward, Erwin and Wesley, Scranton; Ellen Hadley of Braham, Minn.; ten grandchildren, several nephews and nieces and friends and neighbors. One son preceded him in death.
