Obituary, THE RECORD - Jul. 9, 2005 SHANTZ, Nyal - Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Friday, July 8, 2005, at his residence, Nithview Home, New Hamburg. Nyal was formerly of RR2, Baden. He was born 88 years ago on February 16, 1917 in Wilmot Township, a son of the late Manassah and Louida (Cressman) Shantz. Nyal had farmed in Wilmot Township prior to his retirement. He was a member of Shantz Mennonite Church, Baden. Nyal enjoyed wintering in Florida for over 20 years and was an avid bowler. Beloved husband of Helen (Lichty) Shantz who he married December 18, 1943. Loving father of Richard and Connie Shantz of Baden, Joanne and Cliff Wideman of St. Jacobs, Lorrie and Roger Baechler of New Hamburg, Pauline and Glenn Martin of Cambridge, Michael and Linda Shantz of Baden. Dear grandfather of Luke and Joanna Shantz, Lindsay and Scott Leis, Kevin Shantz, Amy and Trevor Wideman, Melanie and Brandon Chilvers, Kelly and Adam Stoak, Carly, Fraser and Simon Martin, Aaron, Andrew and Katelyn Shantz and great-grandfather of Kiera Shantz and Devin Chilvers. Also remembered by brothers and sisters Robert and Lena Shantz, Arley and Mabel Shantz, all of New Hamburg, Ion and Helen Shantz, Ida and Lloyd Schwartzentruber, all of Kitchener, Etta and Lloyd Shantz of Cambridge and sisters-in-law Irene Shantz and Marie Shantz, both of Kitchener. Nyal was predeceased by brothers Howard and Hilda, Wilfred and Selda, Armand, Mahlon and by sister Esther and Aron Enns. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Sunday, July 10, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 11, 2005 at Shantz Mennonite Church at 3 p.m. with Pastors Nancy Mann and Amsey Martin officiating.
