SCHMIDT _ Anne Gertrude (Koepke) Schmidt (nee Heinzig) left to meet her Lord on August 8, 2007 following a lengthy illness. Anne Heinzig was born on July 13, 1921 in Prelate, SK. She was predeceased by her son Chuck Koepke; her husband of almost 50 years, Stanley Koepke; and second husband, Walter Schmidt; three infant sons; her parents, Fritz and Ella Heinzig; brothers, Walter, Willie, Alfred, Martin, Fred, Paul, and Ernest Heinzig; sisters, Mary Aspinall, Elsie Lenz, and one sister in infancy. Left to mourn are her son, Doug Koepke and his wife, Dianne (Radium Hot Springs, BC); daughter-in-law, Laurie Koepke (Regina); and very special friend, Monty Leinweber (Regina); sisters Frieda Sturdy (Comox), Martha Schultz (Calgary), Trudy Normand (Calgary) and Helen (Don) Ganshorn (Regina); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Anne led a full life and was devoted to her faith and family. She met life's challenges with a positive attitude and a wonderful sense of humour. God gifted her with many talents and she used them to bring much pleasure to those who knew her. She will be long remembered for her exceptional cooking and homemaking skills, gardening, and her creativity in her artwork, crafts, and sewing. Anne loved living at The Bentley during the last couple of years. The staff and her many new friends, whom she met there, became a huge part of her life. Visitation will be held at Westhill Park Baptist Church, 8025 Sherwood Drive, Regina from 7:00 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 10th. A private family interment will be held.
