Ina S. Shannon, 100, of Cabot, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Jefferson Township. Ina was formerly of Freeport. Ina was born Sept. 11, 1908, in Armstrong County, the daughter of the late Harry and Dora (Schrecengost) Spang and she was the widow of Earl F. Shannon, who passed away in 1988. Mrs. Shannon enjoyed needle work, traveling and spending the winters with her daughter, Gloria, in Arizona. She is survived by her three daughters, Jean Hughes, of Las Vegas, Nev., Louise (Richard) Sweeney, of Saxonburg, and Gloria McConville, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Dale Spang, of Weedville; and a sister, Lola (Russell) Moore, of Clarmont, Fla. Ina is also survived by her seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Smock; and 12 brothers and sisters. Family and friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, Freeport. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Jack Hartman officiating. Burial will be held in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
