Born in Haywood County, N.C., January 29, 1901, Sigrid "Sig" James Westmoreland was the son of Lorenzo Augustus Westmoreland and Minnie Amanda Burnette Westmoreland.
In the early 1930's, Sigrid James Westmoreland purchased an existing funeral home in Marion, McDowell County, N.C. It was first known as Westmoreland-Quin Funeral Home as of a partnership. Shortly afterwards, it was known as Westmoreland Funeral Home. The funeral home is still in business today. "Sig" also ran an ambulance service.
"Sig" was first married to Margaret Gibbs and then later after her death, he was married to Diora Faye Waldrop Westmoreland.
On November 5, 1981, Rutherfordton, Rutherford County, N.C., Sigrid "Sig" James Westmoreland, still married, died at the age of 80.
