She was the daughter of William Worthington and Harriet Anderson Worthington.
On February 17, 1842 as Catharine L. Worthington, she married William W. Davis at the District of Columbia.
They were the parents of five children.

Funeral of Mrs. Catherine W. Davis
The funeral of Mrs. Catherine Worthington Davis was held yesterday at noon from the family residence, 1719 Connecticut Avenue. The service was conducted by Rev. Herbert S. Smith of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church. The interment was at Oak Hill in the Davis-Worthington lot. Mrs. Davis belonged to the Worthington family of Baltimore County, Maryland and the Davis family of Virginia. Some of her relatives are absent from the city. They were informed of the death and sent telegrams expressing their sorrow. They are her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Pulitzer, who is in Europe and Mr. William Leonard Davis, her son, who is in Nevada. Present at the funeral were besides Miss Clara R. Davis, her daughter who lived with her, Mr. Joseph Pulitzer Jr., her grandson who came from New York and Mrs. William Leonard Davis, her daughter-in-law from New Orleans. Many floral tributes were received.

Washington, May 18. Mrs. Catherine Worthington Davis, widow of William Worthington Davis and the mother of Mrs. Joseph Pulitzer of New York died at her home here today. Mrs. Davis and her husband were cousins and also cousins of Jefferson Davis. The family has been a prominent one for many years in the society of Washington and Virginia.
Age 92 years, 11 months, 2 days.
