Philomena M. Crabtree, 96, of Klein Center in Burlington, formerly of Fort Madison, died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at Klein Center.
Born April 17, 1913, in St. Peters, Kan., she was the daughter of Andrew and Margaret Dreiling Riedel. On June 10, 1946, she married Floyd "Heine" Crabtree in Denver. He died Dec. 10, 1992.
Mrs. Crabtree was a homemaker. She worked as a registered nurse in Cheyenne, Wyo., Hays, Kan., and at Mercy Hospital in Burlington. She was a member of SS. Mary & Joseph Church and Catholic Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Lynn Crabtree of Burlington, Larry Crabtree of Lake Ozark, Mo., and Mark Crabtree of Fort Madison; two daughters, Marilyn Colby of Roseville, Ill., and Kathy Kempker of Fort Madison; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Amelia Jacobs of Cortez, Colo.; and one brother, Al Riedel of Hays.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Mary & Joseph Church, Holy Family Parish in Fort Madison.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Crabtree will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Mary & Joseph Church, Holy Family Parish with the Rev. Mark Spring officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Fort Madison.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
