Emil Gerhard Menke was born to his loving parents Gerhard and Emma (Demhlow) Menke on Friday August 6, 1909 probably in the Clarkson, Colfax County area. My research found no information on Emil's childhood or schooling. Emil started dating Emma Schwanke sometime in the early sixties. I was once arriving home from high school and I met them in my folk's half mile driveway. They were leaving from visiting my folks that afternoon. We all waved to each other. Emil was united in marriage to Emma Schwanke on Sunday April 25, 1965, they had no children over the years of their marriage. I recall attending their wedding at the Saint Paul Lutheran Church south southwest of Leigh with a Columbus, Platte County address. Emil was a quiet kind man. I recall Emma and Emil caring very much for each other, they had a very good marriage. The couple lived at 311 Beech Street Leigh, Colfax County with a GPS of 41.707245, -97.233709. Even though Emil married later in life, the couple did celebrate their silver wedding anniversary in 1990 and enjoyed one more year of marriage after that celebration. Sadly Emil passed on Monday January 24, 1994 at the age of 84 years, 5 months, 18 days which does not include his last day, he lived a total of 30,852 days. My research found no information on Emil's funeral. Emil was interred in the Saint Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in row 6 if my memory is correct.
