Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in St. Nicholas, MN for Hildegard Wolters, age 96, who died Thursday at the Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring. Burial will be in the St. Nicholas Parish Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. with a rosary being said at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Nicholas Church prior to mass. Arrangements entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring.

Hildegard was born in St. Nicholas, MN to Michael and Margaret (Dockendorf) Wolters. She attended St. Ben's High School and moved to St. Paul where she worked at the Secretary of State's Office. Hildegard later returned to the family farm and lived there until the mid 1990's when she moved off the Wolters Family Century Farm to a home outside of Cold Spring.

Hildy was a very kind and compassionate woman who had a particular fondness for animals – especially dogs. She was a very talented gardener. Hildy and her twin sister, Anastasia, grew beautiful flowers and for many years they provided flowers for St. Nicholas Church. She also loved to can garden produce, sew and bake delicious bread. She was a member of St. Nicholas Parish and Christian Women.

Survivors include her brother, Ben (Joyce); sister-in-law, Lorraine and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leo, Raymond, Andrew, Roman and her twin sister, Anastasia.

Memorials are preferred to the Benedictine Mission House in Schuyler, NE or the Poor Clare's Monastery.
