"George Eckhardt, 72, early pioneer of the region northwest of Marlin, was buried from the St Matthew's Congregational church in Odessa on Sunday, following his death at Cheney last Thursday, with the Rev J. H. Wacker officiating and burial at the Scheller Cemetery. Born in Frank, North Russia, in December 1863, and in 1891 was married to Anna Margaret Hoff, coming to America in 1893 and settling at Hastings, Nebraska, where he farmed many years. In later years he came west, homesteading near Marlin. His wife died in 1926 and since then he has made his home with his children. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. W. L. Scott, Cheney; Mrs. E. J. Kent, Spokane; Mrs. J. P. Hansen, Cheney; and Mrs. J. C. Harding, Ellensburg; four sons, Karl at Almira; George
