Herbert William Karg, 74, of Sterling died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000 in Sterling.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the Church of the Nazarene with the Revs. Kevin Hopkins, Victor Karg and Henry Schott officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Karg was born on Dec.18, 1925 to Alex and Rosie (Batz) Karg in Cheyenne, Wyo.
He went to school in Crook and graduated from Crook High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1947, where he was selected for the Counter-Intelligence Corps. After his discharge he returned to farm in the Crook area.
On Oct. 23, 1949 he married Betty Schott in Sterling. They lived in Crook and farmed until 1965. In 1965, they moved to Merino and continued farming.
They moved to Sterling in 1992, but he continued to farm until his death.
He attended the Church of the Nazarene in Sterling.
Mr. Karg is survived by his wife Betty of Sterling; one daughter, Donna Bornhoft and husband Richard of Arvada;. one son, Robert Karg and wife Elissa of Merino; one brother, Elmer Karg and wife Fern of Sterling; two sons-in-law, Darrell Lewis and wife Allyn of Alamosa and Mark Clayton and wife Jean of Holyoke; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Sherrie Clayton and Judy Lewis; and one granddaughter, Krista Karg.
