Beloved mother, sister and grandmother, Kathleen Harvey, 82, went to be with Jesus on Friday, April 17, 2009. She was born March 20, 1927 in Odom, GA, the daughter of Otha and Effie Westberry Johnson. On February 22, 1947 she married the late Bill J. Harvey. They were married 49 years at the time of Mr. Harvey's passing in 1996. Mr. Harvey was employed by the Forestry Service and together they lived at various Division of Forestry Services sites.
Mrs. Harvey was known for her generosity and hospitality. She was loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed cooking for her family. She dearly loved her grandchildren and they loved her. She was a member of Yulee Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class.
She was also predeceased by a daughter, Cathy Elaine Logan; son, Bill J. Harvey, Jr.; and a grandson, James Jerome Nichols, Jr.
Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Robert Blitchington of Jacksonville, FL and Shirley and Mark Nunley of Fernandina Beach, FL; one brother and sister-in-law, Freddy and Patsy Johnson of Lyons, GA; three sisters, Essie Lee Mosley of Jesup, GA, Frances Powell of Reidsville, GA and Betty Jean Wilson, also of Reidsville, GA; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, at Yulee Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Fox presiding. Co-officiating were Elders David Crawford and Mark Nunley. Interment followed in Green Pine Cemetery where she was laid to rest next to her husband. The family received friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Green Pine Funeral Home.
