Alfred Licht, 79, Lowden, died June 1 at St. Luke's hospital, Davenport, where had been a patient for 10 days. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 4 at Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden with the Rev. Earl Elowsky officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery.
Music for the service was provided by the Trinity male chorus and Mrs. Lorenz Hoffmeier, organist. Casket bearers were Donald Barenthin, Glen Meier, Jerry Barenthin, Robert Licht, Arlin Meier and William Mann. Mrs. Wayne Muhs, Mrs. Betty Licht, Mrs. Raymond Meier and Mrs. Randy Dunning were in charge of flowers.
Mr. Licht was born May 28, 1897 at Toronto, the son of William and Justine Thoeming Licht. He was a retired farmer and had lived in Lowden for 5 years. He married Florence Barenthin Jan. 6, 1924. He was a member of Trinity church.
Survivors include his wife of Lowden; a daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Marian) Strunk, Wheatland; a son, Harold of Dubuque; 2 sisters, Mrs. Herman Meier of Wheatland and Mrs. Edward Mann of Cedar Rapids; 2 brothers, Arthur of Wheatland and Edwin of Port Charlotte, Fla.; 7 grandchildren, 5 stepchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His parents, one brother and one grandson preceded him in death.
