Vera Meissner was born October 27, 1922, in Washta, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Capitola Chase. She married W.P. "Bill" Meissner on December 19, 1953. After their marriage, the couple lived in the Pierson area. Bill died September 15, 1986. After his death, she continued to live at home in Pierson. In 2001, she moved to Gig Harbor to be closer to her daughter, Mary Meissner. Mrs. Meissner died February 22, 2005, at Gig Harbor, Wasington at the age of 82. Services were held at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Correctionville, Iowa, with Rev. Burt Burwell officiating. Burial was made in Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch, under direction of Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home of Kingsley, Iowa. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Meissner and her husband, Scott Kreek of Gig Harbor and Diane Graham of Wapello, Iowa; a stepson and his wife, George and Dee Meissner of Fridley, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a brother and his wife, Marvin and Donna Chase of Sioux City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Capitola Chase; and her husband, William P. "Bill" Meissner.
