W.P. "Bill" Meissner was born April l4, 1906, in Lissdorf, Germany, the son of Oswald G. and Frieda Lina (Wollweber) Meissner. He came to the United States and the Battle Creek area in 1909. He moved to Wamego, Kansas, where he lived for seven years and then came to the Pierson area where he farmed for three years. He was first married to Therese Riemenschneider and had two sons, George and Arthur. After this marriage ended, he married Vera Chase Jorgensen December 19, 1953, in Dakota City. He worked as in independent insurance agent for 37 years and retired in 1968. Mr. Meissner was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. Mr. Meissner died September 15, 1986, in a Sioux City hospital. Services were held in the Salem Lutheran Church, rural Correctionville, with Rev. Martin osterloh officiating. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch, under direction of Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home of Kingsley. Survivors include his wife, two sons, George of Fridley, Minnesota, and Arthur of Wilmington, California, a daughter, Mrs. Scott (Mary) Creek of Sarasota, Florida, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Michael (Diane) Graham of Wapello, two brothers, Eric and Fritz, both of Pierson, two sisters, Mrs. Hattie McCarter of Wellman and Alice Rieckmann of Kingsley, thirteen grandchildren and two great grandsons.
