JEFFERSONVILLE EVENING NEWS OBITUARY – 12/15/1973
Funeral services for Firman M. Sieg Sr., 83, of Frenchtown, will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Frenchtown, with burial in the church cemetery. He died at 5:30 a.m. Friday at his home. Sieg was a native of Harrison County and was a veteran of World War I and was a retired farmer. He was also a retired general storekeeper. He was a member of the Harrison American Legion Post 123 and the World War Barracks 265. Survivors include his wife, the former Edna Arnold; one son, Firman M. Sieg Jr., Marengo; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Byerley, and Mrs. Elizabeth Briscoe, both of Depauw, Mrs. Margaret Kiesler, Clarksville and Mrs. Elaine Crayden, Gulfport, Miss.; 29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Swarens Funeral Home, Ramsey, after 4 p.m. today.

Firman M. Sieg Sr., 83, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday at his residence, Rt. 3, Depauw. Funeral services will be held at 9 p.m. Monday from St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Frenchtown, with burial in St. Bernard's Cemetery with military rites by World War I Barracks 265 of Corydon. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Swarens Funeral Home, Ramsey. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Saturday.

SIEG – Firman M. Sr., age 83, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday at his residence, Rt. 3, Depauw, Indiana. He was a native of Harrison County and was a veteran of World War I. He was a retired farmer and was a retired store operator after several years in Frenchtown, Indiana. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, Harrison Post American Legion No. 123, and World War I Barracks No. 265. Surviving are wife, the former Edna Arnold; one son Firman M. Sieg Jr. of Marengo; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Byerly and Mrs. Elizabeth Briscoe, both of Depauw, Mrs. Margaret Kiesler of Clarksville, and Mrs. Elaine Craden of Gulf Port, Mississippi; 29 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday from St. Bernard's Catholic Church at Frenchtown. Firman M. Sieg Sr., World War I veteran, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday in his home at Frenchtown. He was 83 years of age and a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and Holy Name Society, Frenchtown. Mr. Sieg was a retired farmer and storekeeper, having operated a general store in Frenchtown for several years. He was a member of the Harrison Post American Legion, No. 123, and World War I Barracks, No. 265. Surviving are his wife, the former Edna Arnold; a son, Firman Sieg Jr., Marengo; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Byerley, and Mrs. Elizabeth Briscoe, both of Depauw, Mrs. Margaret Kiesler, Clarksville and Mrs. Elaine Crayden, Gulfport, Miss.; also 29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. The body was at the Swarens Funeral Home, Ramsey, where the rosary was said at 7 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Monday in St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Rev. Eugene Weidman, parish pastor officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery with military rites at the grave. World War I veterans taking part in the rites were Adna Harris, commander, Edgar Cummins, chaplain, Henry Rupp, and Claud Davis, folding and presenting of flag. Marshall Robson also participated. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased. Donald, Marvin and Michael Briscoe, David and Gregory Byerley and Dennis Sieg.
