John was born in Stalwart, Michigan on August 13, 1925, the son of the late James Waybrant and Sarah (Izzard) Waybrant. During World War II, John served his country in the United States Navy on board the USS Maryland. In October 1949, he married Lois Hixon in Curtis, Michigan. He worked as a carpenter and was an avid hunter. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #358 and the Carpenters Local Union.
John Waybrant was survived by two sons: Russ Waybrant of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and Gary Waybrant of Brimley, MI; a daughter-in-law: Marsha Waybrant of Kincheloe, MI; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. He was also survived by two brothers: Rube Waybrant of Pickford, MI and Norm Waybrant of Flint, MI; and a sister: Dorothy Fox of Manistique, MI.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Lois Waybrant; a son: Mel Waybrant; and two brothers. Cecil and Charles Waybrant.
