William Goehring was born June 6, 1934, at Mandan, N.D., to Christian and Marie (Singer) Goehring. He attended country school in Selfridge, N.D., where his family owned a farm for eight years. In 1963, he moved to the Boise area where he lived until his death.
He held various positions which included working for Morrison Knudsen, cement finishing, auto mechanic in his own home-based shop, security guard janitorial services and from 1992-95, he was an auto dismantler for Barger Mattson of Boise. His greatest accomplishment was raising his two sons from his second marriage on his own —a feat many told him he would not be able to do. He loved to camp, fish, go to the car races in Meridian, work on cars, and spend time with his sons and grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter and one son from his first marriage, Julia McQueen and David Goehring, both of Boise; and sons, William Goehring Jr., and Sam Goehring, both of Boise; 12 grandchildren; five brothers, Dick, Dale, Mel, Vern and Ted Goehring; and one sister, Wilma Walker.
Contributions may be made in his name to St. Alphonsus Cancer Treatment Center, 1055 N. Curtis Road, Boise, Idaho 83706.
