Born Sept. 21, 1919, at Superior, Wis., he worked as a mechanic for Pickands Mather Iron Mining Company at the Danube Mine, Bovey, for 30 years. During World War II he was in the U.S. Army and was part of the Normandy invasion contingent. He died Thursday, Sept. 20, at Itasca Memorial Hospital, Grand Rapids.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy; a son, Glen, Nashwauk; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Billie Jean) Mathison, Anoka, and Mrs. Nickolas (Jill Kay) Hansen, Grand Rapids; two sisters, Lee Hurley and Mary Jane Unger, both of Coleraine; four brothers, Max and Lyle, both of Waskish, Minn., John, Midway, and Jim, LaPrairie; and five grandchildren.
