Born December 24, 1879 to John Huggard and Bessie Lowrey in Abby Lieux, Ireland. She was baptised in the same town in 1881. She immigrated to New York with a large family including 7 siblings, William, Michael, Joseph, Frances Allen, Esther Devine, Agnes Signer, John and James. Her first marriage was to Thomas Bridger who died at an early age. A few years after his death Mary married George Louis Emmel, son of John Emmel and Amelia Palow in 1905. Living most of her life in Hicksville, New York, she raised her six children; Elizabeth Chelstrom, John, Agnes Pfleger, Frances Twist, Edward, Mildred Thieme, and George Jr. She spent her final years living in Beverly Hills, Florida close to her three daughters.
