Uncle Zeb, on the 1900 census, was listed as "Zeberdee," and I remember my Dad using that name when he named off his father's brothers. His 1918 draft card uses the name "Zebulon Obadiah Rhodes," and the handwriting on the card is firm, regular, and educated. On his father's death certificate, Zeb is listed as the informant, and the hand writing is shaky, irregular, and labored. I think that his name was "Zeberdee" and that his wife Ellen came up with a more sophisticated name. It didn't matter a lot -- he was Uncle Zeb.
