Mrs. Keziah Harding, one of our oldest and best citizens died at her home about three miles from this city on Thursday morning, December 24, after a long illness. Revs. J. B. Bozeman and J. L. Edrington conducted the funeral services in the presents of a large assembly of the deceased lady's freinds. The remains were interred at the family burying grounds on Christmas day. Mrs. Harding was born near this city on August 11, 1823 and had lived an upright Christian life, having been a member of the Baptist Church for over sixty five years, and she always took a deep interest in all religious matters, and was a lady loved by all who knew her. She leaves three daughters and three sons on all of whom the deep affliction falls heavily, besides a large number of grand and great grandchildren. Her maiden name was Allen, being a daughter of Samuel Allen, fearless verteran of the Mexican War (error: should be War of 1812), and well known by a great many of our older citizens. Her husband Abraham Harding has been dead about twenty years, and at the time of his death they had been married fifty years She was a lady of wonderful vitality for one of her years, often being seen in our city of late years attending her church. It is always with deep regret that we chronicle the death of an old pioneer citizen for they are as a rule the bulwark of our county. We extend our sympathy to all the bereaved ones in this sad hour of their sore distress.
