ZYLA, STEPHEN J. SR. Of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2003, aged 84 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Katherine; one son, Stephen M. (Judy) Zyla Jr.; of Jackson; two grandchildren, Michael (Kirsten) Zyla of Sand Creek, Christine (Aaron) Riker of Napoleon; four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Zachary Zyla, Ashley and Nicholas Riker; nieces and nephews. Mr. Zyla retired from Watling Lerchen Company in 1978. He served eight years as a Jackson City Commissioner and Vice Mayor during his last term of office. He served on the Advisory Council of the Crouch Center, member of the Jackson Eagles Lodge #612, he was a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus, St. Stanislaus Parish. He belonged to the Horseshoe Club and was active in many other organizations. He was attending Writers Class. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. Services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
