The oldest child of Louis Detterman and Lily Patterson, Geneva worked as a servant when she was in her early teens. She did housework for the family of Joseph Desloge, Sr. and Anne Kennett (nee Farrar) Desloge in north St. Louis County, Missouri. He was a descendant of the family for whom Firmin Desloge Hospital was named.

The Desloge family also had 3 other servants at the time Geneva worked there. The family employed a nurse named Marie Saalfrank. The housekeeper was Lena Albers, and her daughter, Flora, was the family cook. George Albers was a lodger in the home and worked as a farm laborer.

Geneva married Walter Fritz Albers around 1935. He worked as a shingle bundler for a shingle manufacturer, and he was a truck farmer. They were the parents of 2 children.

Walter died tragically in 1948.

Children from first marriage: 1 son, 1 daughter.

After Walter's death, Geneva married Louis John Albers on 30 Jan 1960 at Salem Lutheran Church in Black Jack, St. Louis County, Missouri. A widower, Louis was William's brother and the father of 2 children from his first marriage.

Children from second marriage: 1 step-son, 1 step-daughter.

At the time of her death, Geneva was 79 years, 2 months and 18 days old.

She was survived by 1 son, Glennon Albers; 1 daughter, Janet Miller; 1 step-son, Gilbert Albers; 1 step-daughter, Luella Gavisk; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Melvin Detterman; 2 sisters, Ruth Merrins and Joy Gockenbach; and many extended family members.

In addition to her first husband, Geneva was preceded in death by her second husband, Louis Albers; her mother and father; 1 sister, Judith Detterman; and 1 brother, Raymond Detterman.

Visitation was held on 08 Aug 1994. Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. the following morning at Salem Lutheran Church in Black Jack.

Geneva was buried next to her first husband, Walter.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the church.
