At the age of 23 he migrated to the new world of promise and settled in Webster county, Nebraska in 1880. Three years later he was united in marriage to Mary Sund, April 1, 1883. To this union seven children were born; Katherine Karnatz, Burr Oak, Kansas; John, St Francis, Kansas; Mrs Mary Kelly, Mrs Annie Harlow, Casper, Wyoming; Mrs Amelia Karnatz, Bostwick, Nebraska; Mrs Maggie Wilton, Superior, Nebraska; and George Jr., St Francis. Mrs Indorf died in August 1897. Nine years later Mr Indorf was married to Mrs Jenny Harrington on November 10, 1906 and to this union five children were born; Henry, Fritz, Lyda, Gustaf and Arline. Gustaf preceded his father in death, April 21, 1931.
Mr Indorf came to Cheyenne county among the first early settles and took a homestead northwest of St Francis and that place has been home to him for the past 49 years. There his family was reared to that sturdy type of citizenship which every community needs. He was ever aware of the need of responsible government and for 21 years has served as a county commissioner, proving himself a faithful steward of the things intrusted to his care.
He was raised in the Lutheran church and never transferred his membership. Shortly after the organization of the Masonic lodge in St Francis. Mr Indorf affiliated with that great brotherhood and has remained a faithful member throughout the years.
Besides his wife and children Mr Indorf leaves to mourn his departure 34 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; also many other relatives and an unnumbered host of friends.
