The youngest of 5 children and only son of Gerhard Bimslager and Elizabeth M. "Lizzie" Bentrup, "Harry" married Lorraine Droege on 27 Dec 1943 in Meppen, Calhoun County, Illinois. They were the parents of 2 children.

At the time of his death, Harry was 73 years, 10 months and 11 days old. He was survived by his wife, Lorraine, who passed away in 2011.
