Death Calls Ben Lake, Prominent Local Resident
Ben Lake, barber and prominent citizen of Guttenberg for many years, died Wednesday afternoon in his shop.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic church. The Rev. J. A. Dupont will officiate at the rites. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Lake, at 66 years of age, apparently was in the best of health. He died suddenly from a heart attack, no one else being in the shop at the time of his passing.
He leaves to mourn, besides his widow, three sons, A. J. Lake of Guttenberg, Edward Lake of Chicago, and Dr. Anthony Lake of Portland, Ore.; three daughters, Mrs. J. T. Kuempel of Guttenberg, Mrs. Charles Tillia of Ottumwa, and Miss Helen Lake of Guttenberg; two brothers, Henry Lake of Luxemburg and O. H. Lake of of Guttenberg; one sister, Mrs. Lena Holtfoerster of St. Louis; and 11 grandchildren.
