Betty Joyce Bryant, 65, died on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at her Roanoke family home. A Memorial Service will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Oakey's South Chapel with Elder Junior Conner officiating. Her family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 2 to 3 p.m. preceding the service. Betty is survived by her mother, Hazel Helms Bryant, of Salem, Mo.; sisters, Loretta McClure and husband, Lynn, of Salem, Mo., and Marie Osterbuhr and husband, Ron, of Garden City, Kan.; and brother, David Bryant, of Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer L. Bryant. She is also survived by an aunt, niece, nephews, and cousins. Betty was a house painter by trade. She enjoyed working with wood and built cabinets and furniture. She enjoyed fishing off the pier at the Outer Banks, and a tent was one of her favorite motels. Genealogy was one of her passions, and birds were often the focus of her binoculars and camera. Most of all, she loved her family and friends.
