Bob was the second son of Mileage Obadiah ( Obe )Smith and Anna Mansell. He was the maternal grandfather of Elvis Presley. 'Bob' married his first cousin, 'Doll' Mansell. In 1880 he was living east of Saltillo, Mississippi with his parents. In 1900, Robert was living at Fawn Grove with his mother. In 1910,the Smith's lived in Beat 4, Pontotoc County, Mississippi. On September 10, 1918, he registered for the WW1 draft and was living at Mooreville, Lee County, Mississippi and working as a carpenter in Muscle Shoals Alabama. He was described as tall and stout with blue eyes and dark hair. By 1920, his family was living in Beat 3 District 3 Lee County, Mississippi, Main Tupelo Road 4 miles east of Tupelo. In 1930, they were living on the Tupelo Eggville Road in Lee County, Mississippi. 'Bob' died a little over 2 years before Elvis was born.
