He is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Mildred French of West Columbia; son and daughter-in-law Daryl and Julie French of Navasota; daughters and sons-in-law Deane and Tim Elliott of Lake Jackson and Bonnie and Charlie Powell of West Columbia; brothers and sisters-in-law Ernest and Edna Faye French of West Columbia and Leroy "Tex" and Erma French of West Columbia; sisters and brother-in-law Eloise Hargett of West Columbia, Ruby Hood of Pearland and Lilly Belle and Frank Minor of West Columbia; and grandchildren Shawn French, Elliott French, Will French, Dixie Polk White and husband, Beau, and Edina Polk.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran in WW II, serving on the USS Lexington.
Services will be at Baker Funeral Home Chapel in West Columbia at 2 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2004, with David Weaks officiating. Visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, March 7, 2004, between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. in West Columbia. Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest in West Columbia, Texas.
