Ellen Viola Koecher

Ellen Viola Nelson Koecher of Stacy, Minn. passed away July 24, 2001 at the age of 90.

Funeral services were held July 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch. Interment was at Salem Oxford Cemetery. Arrangements were by Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.

Ellen was born March 29, 1911 to Anna and Adolph Nelson. She was one of 12 children (9 girls 3 boys).

As a young woman, she worked at Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul. On March 15, 1930, she was united in marriage to Irving Koecher. They resided in the Stacy area most of their lives where they farmed and raised five children.

Ellen's loves in life were her family, flowers, music, poetry, and reading, especially her Bible. She never wanted earthly possessions and was always giving to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and remembered others who were hurting and celebrating.

Ellen was a long time active member of Salem Lutheran Church of Oxford and served as president of LCW for many years.

Ellen was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Vadnais, six sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Irving; sons, Kenneth (Billie), Ronald (Judy), daughters, Mavis Tacheny, LaVonne Tacheny (Dennis), son-in-law, John Vadnais; two sisters, Hilda Keen (Clarence) and Marie Sager; 18 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
