Services for Minnie (Baars) Butler, 87, were held Monday, July 13, 1992 at 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Lusk, with Rev. Allen Kallenbach officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Butler died Friday morning at her home in Lusk. She was born April 2, 1905, near Mitchell, S.D. the daughter of Fred C. J. and Dorothea (Nobbman) Baars. The family moved to Reliance, S.D. and when Minnie was seven, they settled on a homestead south of Lusk.

She attended school at Node and graduated from high school in Lusk in 1925. She attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie for one summer.

She married Lawrence O. Butler on Dec. 15, 1926. They farmed and ranched south of Lusk until his death in 1952. Minnie never had children but she loved them and enjoyed babysitting.

She worked in Tyrell's Grocery and Cold Storage for eight years and also was a cook for the Lusk High School for two years. She later did ironing which she continued to do until the time of her death.

She was a member of the Lusk Rebecca's Lodge and was a longtime member of the Congregational Church. She was also a 65 year member of the Node Homemaker's Club

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Verna Humphrey and a brother, William Baars.

Survivors include her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baars of Lusk; many nieces and nephews and many friends.
