Funeral services were held for Mrs. Peter Roos, age 77, of Sheldon on September 27 at the Bethel Reformed Church with Rev. William B. Miller officiating. She died September 24 at the Sheldon Community Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Dena Gertrude Van Roekel was born October 15, 1894, near Maurice, Iowa. She married Peter Roos June 11, 1920, at Orange City. Mr. Roos died in Sheldon May 4, 1970.
Survivors: Six daughters, Mrs. Abe (Nelvera) Schiebout and Mrs. Charles (Arlene) Lubbers, both of Orange City, Miss Bernice Roos of Tempe, Arizona, Mrs. Raymond (Maxine) Heemstra of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Mrs. Al (Gladys) Kessel of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mrs. Harry (Muriel) Ostendorf of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, two sons, Kenneth of Sheldon and Edwin of Ashton, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Jeannette Van Stryland of Orange City; two brothers. Benjamin Van Roekel of Orange City and Ernest Van Roekel of Lynden, Washington; 24 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
