Mrs. Catherine Wabs died at her home four miles west of the Whiting Bridge in the Northern part of the county last Saturday night following an illness of some duration.
The deceased was born Nov 14,1848 in Germany, where she grew to womanhood and was later married in 1874 to Jochim Wabs. Two children were born to this union. August and William, who survive. She came to the county with her husband and family from Iowa in 1882, and located upon a homestead near the Niobrara River in the northern part of the county which has continued to be her home until her death. Her husband passed to the great beyond about three years ago.
Funeral services were held from the home Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock conducted by Rev W G Vahle, of Atkinson. Interment was made in the cemetery at Phoenix, Nebraska.
