Mike Comer, retired carpenter and lifelong resident of Coryell County, died early Tuesday at his home in the Purmela community. He was 69.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Scott's Funeral Home chapel. Rev. G. L. Derrick officiated and burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Comer, born near Osage Aug. 14, 1896, was a veteran of the first World War. He was married to Miss Linnie Sheppard Oct. 19. 1919. They had lived in Purmela the last 22 years.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife of Purmela; one son, C. B. Comer of Austin; three daughters, Mrs. E. B. (Louise) Maxwell of Waco, Mrs. H. B. (Nina) Skelton of Waco and Mrs. D. E. (Bobbie Jean) Wright of Dallas; four brothers, Jim Comer of Purmela, Ed Comer of Purmela, B. B Comer of Waxahachie and Stonewall Comer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Sparkman of Purmela, Mrs. George Berry of Texas City, Mrs. Prudie Meyers of Purmela, Mrs. Alice Buckner of Gatesville and Mrs. Josie Lee of Purmela; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers for Mr. Comer's funeral were T. J. Smith,
J. B. Parrish, Horace Dyer, George Wilkinson, A. B. Graham and Floyd A. Miller.
