Andreas and his wife Catherine were killed by their son

buried on Schalterschen cemetery: Andreas Schild, age 67, 10 months, and 10 days, Catherine Elizabeth Schild maiden name Gerhardt, age 64, nine months. A large number of people joined the procession after they listened quietly to the sermon of Rev. Philip Pauli, who spoke fitting the occasion and included advice especially to the young people on the words of 1 Peter 5:8 ' Be sober and alert, because your enemy, the devil, goes around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resiste the devil solid in the faith."
Documentation: Note: Andreas and his wife Catharine Elisabeth were killed by their
son Johannes on their farm in Alsace Twp., Berks county. Johannes was hanged in City
Park in Reading, PA. His symptoms were like that of a paranoid schizophrenia patient,
of course, unknown in those days. Reading Public library has newspaper articles on
his trial and other pertaining info. Documents and resources: Reading Eagle/Times
Newspapers, US Census, Berks County Tax and city directory of Reading PA.
