Lloyd Clayton Gillming was born in Kearney, Nebraska, September 22, 1899. He passed away June 13, 1949, at the age of 49 years.
His parents were Samuel F. and Jennie Gillming. When he was 10 months of age, his mother passed away, and when he was 5 years of age his father married Cora E. Bell, who he knew and loved as his mother. He was baptized a member of Bethel Brethren church and still held his membership.
On February 10, 1923, he was united in marriage to Anna Freda Sander. To this union were born one daughter, Bernice, and one son, Roland.
In November, 1934, after living on his father's homestead for 27 years, he sold his farming equipment and personal property and moved to Auburn, California, where he settle and owned his own home on Prospect Hill.
He was a good husband and father, and still had time for many community affairs.
He was a firm believer in the Golden Rule and with this as his guide he had a host of friends.
He was an active member of the Auburn Lodge No. 7, I.O.O.F. having been initiated on October 1, 1936. He was past gran patriarch of Place Encampment No. 36, and was the first past grand to be presented with a pin by the lodge. He was also active in Azalea Rebekah loge No. 117.
Up until the last year, he was an active member of the Auburn Volunteer Hook and Ladder company. He held membership in the Mt. Vernon Grange, 65ers Dance club, Auburn Junior Odd Fellows, where he was an advisor, and Carpenters' local no. 1436, where he was a trustee.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Mrs. Anna Gillming; a daughter, Mrs. Bernice Rasmussen, a son, Roland; two brothers, Charles o. of Salem, Oregon, and LaVern S. of North Platte, Nebraska, and one sister, Mrs. Belva Baer of Kearney; many other friends and relatives.
